A place where new fans could be seen marching among veterans in awe of their favorite movie memorabilia right before their eyes. Life size droids and R2D2’s, Rebel Alliance crew members, and Darth Vader’s of all sizes were just a few of the things a heart throbbing Star Wars fan could see while walking through the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, August 12-15.
Star Wars Celebration V was indeed filled from room to booth with everything Star Wars. Some of the most memorable characters and machinery were brought to life throughout the convention center. The much talked about Main Event consisted of an interview between the creator himself, George Lucas and The Daily Show’s, Jon Stewart. One question asked by Stewart, “What is it like to come here to see this room filled with working droids?” Lucas wittingly responded, “It’s a tragedy, it took us eight years to get the R2-D2 unit working with the leg in front.” Each booth consisted of a wide variety of things relevant to Star Wars and its 25,000 attending fans. To see more pictures from the event and the work of Reaction Audio Visual, go to Facebook or see the full interview on YouTube.
From the words of creator George Lucas, “Everything looks great!” And the comedy of Jon Stewart, “I just want to keep it going until they beat it into the ground, to the point where John Stamos is Yoda.” This show could not have been more of a success.
